GOVERNMENT HOUSE.

HONGKONG. 21st. May, 1914.

D.

With reference to paragraph 8 of Sir F.

Lugard's Despatch No. 390 of the 16th. November, 1911, and to

enclosure No. 8 contained therein, I have the honour to refer for

your approval the particulars contained in the enclosed copy of a memorandum from the Director of Public Works of a proposed exchange

of property in the Sham Shui Po District for an equivalent area of

Crown Land in the vicinity.

2.

As the property consists of (a) Building lota

shewn in blue in the attached plan, (b) Agricultural lots shewn in

yellow, and (c) Superstructures on the area coloured green, I

attach a table shewing the total valuation expressed in terms of

land for purposes of exchange. It will be seen that the area of

Crown Land to be granted which is shewn coloured red is within a

very close approximation the equivalent of the property to be

resumed, the excess only amounting to 18.5 square feet.

3.

My object in promoting the exchange is to facilitate a proposed laying-out scheme for the Sham Shui Po

District, as shewn on the plan herein, with which the existing lots

interfere, and I propose subject to your sanction, in this, and in

similar cases likely to arise in the near future in connection

with the scheme, to effect if possible exchanges of Crown Land

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE

LEWIS HARCOURT, M.P.,
